Dr Robert Verkerk has been involved for the last 20 years in sustainable approaches to agriculture, environmental management and health and is an acclaimed international expert in these fields. Between 1983 and 1992, in Australia, he founded and directed a model franchiser company, which pioneered novel ecologically based approaches to pest management, while campaigning successfully against the use of hazardous chemicals in the home, industry and agriculture. After gaining a Masters Degree (Distinction) and a PhD (1993-95) from Imperial College London, he worked for a further seven years as a post-doctoral Research Fellow at Imperial College. Dr Verkerk has regularly acted as a consultant and advisor to governments and development agencies. In 2001, he turned his attention to the human health crisis, which research is increasingly showing to be driven to a large extent by inadequate nutrition. Dr Verkerk, founded the Alliance for Natural Health in February 2002, which is helping to positively shape legislation affecting natural therapies. Dr Verkerk is presently Executive Director of the Alliance for Natural Health, Scientific Director of ultralife Ltd and provides consultancy in the agricultural, environmental and human health fields.
